The Institute of Economics will hold a meeting of its Seminar Series on Tuesday, October 20, 2020: Daniele Checchi from INPS and Università di Milano will present the report: Working in the public sector. Evidence from Europe and the US.

Abstract:

The Covid-19 crisis has put the State and its functions back at the center stage of the political debate. The epidemiological crisis has clearly shown that the public sector has a unique role in coordinating activities, regulating market behavior, mobilizing resources across sectors and areas, which the private sector is not responsible of. The report focuses on the way its internal labour market and personnel policies contribute to public service provision, such as education, health care and other government services. The authors offer a comparative overview of public sector jobs across OECD countries and critically discuss theories and evidences on labour markets in the public sector.

External participants are welcome to join online at the following link. However, they need to contact the organisers via email to grant access to the seminar.
